From IanW: Macedonian Command & Casualties (74 points)

Ian sends in this group of nine Macedonian command figures plus thirteen casualties.

From Ian:

'Finally got these photographed but not before the cats got at them!!!! The Command figures was part of 400+ figures a friend gave me just before Christmas when he found out I was unable to work through illness and painting is one of my few activities. As such these are really a Seleucid Command but work well enough. I think they are Essex and must have been bought 25+ years ago. I have never been a fan of rider and horse being separate and one of the bases highlight why. I was carless with the glueing and it looks odd. So I have a figure to re-position and a lance to repair, joy of joys. Overall I did not have as much fun painting these as the previous figures though they painted up fairly quickly.'

'As for the dead I just can't remember the supplier, shame as I want some more and a mate collected them for me at Reading. These will pull double duty for Impetus (the numbers on the base are for their Strength and hitting power, whilst in Field of Glory the counter itself represents a mix of disorder and lost troops. I have 13 of these as shown and need twice as many at least so will get some more next con.'

These two groups will give Ian 74 points. Great work, Ian! Hopefully you can keep the next batch away from the cats. They must Persians (har, har, har)...

From IanW: 15mm Macedonian Pike Phalanx (128 points)

Ian builds upon his current Alexandrian theme and sends in this excellent block of 32 Macedonian Hypaspists.

These are 15mm Magister Militum castings. There are a few variations in helmets and armour to give the unit a campaign look and more personality. While this is great, it is not really required as Ian, like many of our Challengers, has brought us his A-game and hand-painted all the shields! Bravo - great work!

Ian tells me that he still has two more pike blocks like this to do but he might break it up with a bit of work on some 6mm Hussars and 28mm WWII. Excellent stuff - I look forward to seeing those!

This pike block will give Ian a very tidy base of 96 points, but as he's gone through the effort with those lovely shields I'm adding another 32 points. So, 128 it is!

From IanW: 15mm Cretan Archers & Prodromoi Lancers (96 points)

Ian has been itching to get on the scoreboard for several days now and comes through with these lads from the wars of Philip II and Alexander. Well done!

These are 15mm Magister Militum castings that Ian adds to his Macedonian army which he's based for the 'Fields of Glory' rules.

Ian says the the 16 Cretan archers were fairly straightforward to get done but the 8 light cavalry were a bit more involved with shading the tunics and the leopard skin horse rugs.

This group will bring him 48 points each for the archers and the light cavalry: 96 points total!

Next up for Ian will be a big unit of 32 Companion pike.
