From IanW: WWII Sniper Markers (40 points)

From Ian:
This entry has been on a back burner for about nine months. Finally got it started a week into the challenge. I painted the figures up really quickly, just a couple of days and the American base only took four or five days to complete. However I took a break as I thought about base two, this one is all the way from my head rather than taken from the Journal 8 cover.

It was not helped that as the project went on I thought how about.... and another slight change came into play. In the end the basic idea remains the same but it took on a life of it's own.

The American infantryman is from Artizan while the German sniper is by Black Tree Designs.
This won't make my blogs until it is safely in the hands of the owner in the US. Then I will do a more detailed post with some work in progress pics. Whilst it is a commission of sorts it's also a gift as the original idea was not mine. Time spent working on the project? No idea, probably 30-50+ hours.
Awesome job Ian! They're both very atmospheric (I particularly like the turned over table and debris) and I'm sure your friend will be delighted with them.

While the figures themselves score 10 points I'm going to add another 30 for the work that has gone into these two mini-dioramas. Again, great work.

  1. Very nice!

How do they work in the game? Are they placed on the table as a marker?

  3. Thanks guys, had a lot of fun doing them.

@ DHC, these are meant to sit next to the boards at your side, they have a wheel so that you can set a number between 2 and 7 to denote your sniper number in ASL. From the ones that have been used it is supposed to help and anyway they soon become good luck charms.

These though are an idea to far really as I dobt they will travel from the owners home.
