The Votes are in for the 'Last Stand' Bonus Round

Our final bonus round was rousing success with many excellent entries spanning a wide variety of periods and topics (and visions of reality!).

So, without further ado the runners up were:

MartinN's (Nick's) poignant  'The Death of Arthur'

Curt's 'Eagle of the 18th'

On the podium we have in Third Place MichaelA's inspiring 'Say Hello to One's Little Friend'

Michael will receive 25 bonus points for his wonderful vision the the Empress in action!

In Second Place is DaveD's fabulous 'Butch and Sundance'

Dave will receive 50 bonus points for his fantastic rendition of these iconic screen legends.

First Place was claimed by Millsy with his amazing 'Ney and the Rear Guard, 1812'

Millsy will receive 75 bonus points PLUS a generous gift certificate from the folks at J&M Miniatures.

All of the bonus points have now been tabulated and the FINAL points tally is now reflected on the chart.

I wish to thank all the bonus round participants for their support of this new element of the Challenge. Your enthusiasm and amazing entries made it a unqualified success! Bravo to you all!

    1. Haha! Missed hauling you in by 11 measly points. Ironic considering I left 3 miniatures off the diorama due to a "creative decision". :-)

    3. You're suggesting I should compromise my creative muse for material gain? Shame on you sir!

    1. Cheers Dave, for a while there I was 100% convinced you'd win it. Your stuff is amazing and inspired me to paint one half of my Curtgeld.

  5. Well deserved winners all round. Very happy to say that I managed to back places in each of the bonus rounds - if only I was that lucky with the gee gees (or indeed the ladies for that matter!). Dave D, your Butch and Sundance were wonderful examples of what great figures and great painting can achieve when put together. I've got a friend from the States sending me a couple of the Gorgon Marshal Ney figures (Michael A - you have been warned!). If I can get near Millsy's interpretation, I'll be happy.

Well done to all the contestants.

It was an excellent experience for a first timer like me and I hope to do it again next time.

  7. Curt, you have provided us with hours, nay, weeks of entertainment as we watch the best painters in the blogosphere duke it out for the honour of winning the Challenge.

This is all down to you, and as a non-participant (and painter in geological time), I can only marvel at your ability to motivate sixty bloggers to take part and showcase their finest work for our awestruck admiration.

Thank you for allowing us to accompany you on what has been a truly epic journey!

    1. Ev, thank you very much for your kind words, it really means a lot to me. I love putting on the Challenge as it allows me to both keep in touch with old friends and to make some new ones - all for the cost of a little organization and elbow grease. Easy win in my books!

  9. Beautiful work, all.

It's inspiring - and a little frightening - to see how submissions evolved from individual figures for the non-combatants to whole dioramas now that we've reached the last stand.

The growth in ambition and skill over the three months of the Challenge has been great. I must do more plotting for next year!
