From Lord Hill:
Hear are two companies of the 33rd at Waterloo - 18 men in each company, 36 in total.
All Victrix with a few Perry bits.
In my opinion, the 33rd are the least pretty of any British regiment as their facings were red and thus there's not that nice contract you get with the blues, greens, and yellows of other regiments. But I'm quite happy how they scrubbed up in the end - I just need to learn how to take photos!
A wonderful group of figures Lord Hill. I really like the realistic sense of mass you get from seeing them all densely ranked up - even though they are technically static their overall arrangement is quite dynamic. Very cool.
Britain's 'scum of the earth' will give Lord Hill 178 points. Excellent work!
When I see a mass of Napoleonic troops of this quality It draws me towards the period that I have shied away from for about 40 years.
ReplyDeleteNicely done Lord Hill :)
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff, can't beat a bit of the thin red line.
ReplyDeleteWonderful entry got to love those ranks of red

ReplyDeleteFantastic unit resulting from great modelling and painting!
ReplyDeleteReally nice all crammed together - very effective look!
ReplyDeleteExcellent, Lord H. They'll keep those French cavalry at arms' length!

Thank you very much everyone! Did I really write "Hear" (and not "here")? It was late and I was tired but I'm still going to have myself taken outside and shot. There will be more of the same (Victrix companies in square( coming soon I hope - thanks again for all the kind comments - they really keep me going!
ReplyDeleteNice looking figures and very effective in a large mass. Well done
ReplyDeleteCheers PD
These are great! The red facings look good too. I have to say these are the best posed Victrix I've ever seen. I had to look closely to ensure they were indeed Victrix. You've really used the pose-able option to the fullest - no two look alike. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteOnce again, you've produced some outstanding figures who, by the look of the second and third photos, could easily hold their own against the massed ranks of charging cuirassiers. Well done!

Wonderful composition. Are you going to paint TEN companies?
ReplyDeleteExcellent painting!
ReplyDeleteDamn nice work Lord!
ReplyDeleteExcellent figures and very nice basing!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks all - especially DeanM!
ReplyDeleteJuan, I'm trying to do 1:1 for the whole British army http://britisharmywaterloo.blogspot.co.uk/ As long as I live to be 247 years old I should manage it.
Wonderful and (for napoloeonics) very dynamic redcoats!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic figures. I've always struggled a bit with the Victrix Napoleonics but your figures are extremely well done.
ReplyDeleteAn incredible job of mixing the models, the poses all look so natural together. The bases almost seem to in motion; looks very real.
ReplyDeleteVery nice looking British Infantry.
