From JuanM: 28mm Napoleonic Prussians (85 points)

As a total change of pace from his previous entries, Juan sends in this very smart battalion of Prussian Napoleonic infantry. I've always liked those soft caps they often wore, with the yellow piping and the huge maltese cross crest.

These castings are from the excellent 28mm Calpe range.

These fellows depict the first battalion of a Silesian Landwehr regiment. Juan is committed to painting the complete regiment so we should be seeing them rolling off his painting desk in the coming months. Juan and his group are using these with the 'Black Powder' set of rules.

This fine unit will give Juan 85 points to add to his total. Well done!

From FranL: 20mm WWII German Anti-Tank Group and Soviet Command & MMGs (122 points)

Apparently Fran has taken some time from keeping Ray in-line to send in a few shots of this fine collection of WWII Germans and Soviets. First up is a very characterful Soviet Command stand.

These 20mm models are from Britannia Miniatures. I really like the NKVD officer relaxing with his boot up.

The figures for this MMG company were from the Plastic Soldier Company (PSC).

Last up, is this German anti-tank platoon.

The pak 38 guns are from Britannia while the crew are a mix of SHQ and FAA models.

These 24 figures and 2 guns will give Fran a base of 112 points but I'm awarding another 10 points for the composition of the Soviet command stand, crewed weapons and the German artillery range-finder base.

From RayR: 15mm 1904 Japanese (288 points)

Ray has changed gears from Russian partisans and submits here a group of 1904 Japanese infantry from the Russo-Japanese War.

These are 15mm Old Glory castings. Ray says they are nice models but a bit fiddly to paint.

Nonetheless, I like the variation of uniforms and colour in the unit. Well done!

We have here six groups of sixteen figures so that nets Ray a very handsome 288 points! A very respectable haul.

Ray tells me that he has a couple Japanese cavalry units coming soon and then its on to Nine Years War Huguenots.

From GregB: 28mm Napoleonic Austrian Hussars ('The Lost and Damned') (30 points)

Last spring Greg and I had scheduled a Napoleonics game in Winnipeg and he was tasked to have two units of Austrian cavalry done for it (the game was a blast by the way). Well, Greg came through and actually submitted them for last year's Painting Challenge. Nonetheless, the shine was a little tarnished in that Foundry botched the order for his final three castings of Hussars, not once, not twice, but three times. So Greg had to put up with having a unit that was not quite complete which he found annoying.

Well Foundry finally came through (notwithstanding that they are the wrong pose...whatever) and after a summer hiatus where Greg moved house, they're now finally a complete unit.

These guys depict troopers from the Austrian 10th Hussars and, as I mention above, they are Wargames Foundry 28mm models.

Here they are below, ranked-up with the rest of their comrades, all looking quite ferocious. I can smell the bratwurst, unwashed lederhosen and stale beer from here...

These three replacement and their mounts will give Greg 30 points (and the satisfaction of finally having that unit completed). Beautiful stuff, Greg!

From ChrisP: 15mm German PAK, Panzer IIIs and Stukas (76 points)

Chris is back to present in a mix of German WWII units: three Panzer IIIE tanks, two PAK 36 anti-tank guns and two Stukas.

The tanks and anti-tank guns are 15mm Battlefront castings while the Stukas are 1:100 scale die cast models which have been repainted from their dessert camouflage to an early-war paint scheme.

This group combined will give Chris 76 points. I understand he's moving back to painting Kiwis so stay tuned.
