My Second Entry to the Painting Challenge: Donon 'Rouquin' Carro, French Smuggler and Pulp Adventure Hero

Above is my second entry (small as it is) to the Painting Challenge. This is Donon Carro also known as 'Le Rouquin' (The Redhead), son of Bernez, fisherman, smuggler and no particular friend to men in black boots and brown shirts. You can see a couple more shots of Donon along with a little of his background over on the Challenge blog.  My plan is to do a similar montage for all of the Carro family along with their dubious associates and nefarious enemies.

  1. Excellent paintjob. Especially the yellow raincoat which reminds me of the traditional Frisian bad weather gear which was usual during my younger years but seems to have become unfashionable lately.

    1. Thanks Stefan. I spent more time on the raincoat as I knew it was going to be the focal point for the figure. I still need to go back over it and dirty up the cuffs, elbows and hem - right now it's a bit too clean for a working fisherman's slicker.

  2. I got confused for a second and thought you double posted.:-) Once again wonderful job Curt and a striking yellow.

    1. Thanks Christopher. Yes, even though the Challenge blog is absorbing much of my time right now I know I need to keep this one buzzing along as well.

  3. A very well painted figure indeed, specially since yellow isn't the easiest colour to paint well at all. But I do have to confess to liking the background fluff just as much as the work itself!

    1. Thanks Sander. Yes, I find the fluff as much fun as doing-up the figures.
