The Wild Bunch - The 4th Painting Challenge Roster: We're Locked and Loaded

'Darned fool. I told him that taking on over 50 Challengers was going to be the end of him...'
Whoa! That was a rollicking week of breakneck correspondence and record-keeping. So, now that the dust has settled we now have our Wild Bunch!!

All, ahem, 60 of them...

Cripes, what have I done? Oh well, who cares - it's going to be a blast and c'mon, really, this whole 'sleep' thing is sooo overrated...

The roster for the 4th Annual Painting Challenge can be seen below. If I've made a hash of someone's information please drop me a note so I can correct/update it. Trying to keep it all straight demanded an afternoon fuelled with many espressos and glasses of plonk. So while the roster is complete, I'm afraid there's no guarantee of its accuracy!

Anyway, I invite you to visit the Challengers' personal blogs to see what marvelous things they're concocting or, if they are being a useless wastrel, give them a vigorous prodding on my behalf, wot!

Once the Challenge kicks-off, a version of this roster will be featured on the sidebar to the right. I will make every effort to keep it updated to each Challenger's points total along with other information as the Challenge gallops along.

So gentle readers, over the next few months I encourage you to come and visit, see all the fabulous work being displayed, and give the Challengers their well-deserved kudos and some encouraging words.

Alright! Let's get assembling and priming for December 15th!

    1. Yikes, I definitely need the 15th to take its time. My wife is already cringing about the prospect of all the primer fumes...

    1. The Challenge attracts only people of the highest quality, old boy. How I'm even allowed amongst such august company is beyond me. I guess good help is so hard to find. ;)

  8. I hope your blog can take all the pictures!

Put me down for a target of 600, for now...

I have a few small projects in the wings....

    1. As long as you keep the image dimensions reasonable then they do not count towards your image storage limit. Otherwise my blog would have been shut down years ago from all the past Challenge entries.

      600? Excellent, thanks Dave.

  9. Hi Curt and thanks for running this wonderful event which is no small feat and that's for sure!

Put me down for 500pts. of which I'll upgrade if I need too.

You're marked in for 500 points!

    1. Very good, squire, 600 it is!

I'm delighted to have Anne along with us! (And really, the addition of another few victims will not make a difference on my already shaky hold on reality - but I think I've hit the limit now...)

  11. Can you put me down for 500 pts please?

  15. Now I understand why the main subject of this challenge calls the "The Wild Bunch"! What a lineup! Good luck to all of you!
But most of all for you Curt, this will be an enormous work! And you're planning to paint some figures yourself! Madness!

    Greetings

  16. Woohoo! I'm Rob? - clearly, I need to add some skullduggery, sneakiness, spies and general mysteriousness to my painting lineup!

It looks like a good bunch of painters, and a whole bunch of blogs to add to the blog roll. We're having a spate of rain here, so I've had to replace primer fumes with metal shavings and glue as I clean up and put together figures for my diabolical plot.

To complete the table, my blog is With General Custer Down in Mexico: A Wargaming Blog (link here: http://custermexicoblog.blogspot.com/)

    Best of luck to everybody!

  18. AS Ray and Fran are both aiming at 600 points Kindly put me down for the same.( I was going to say 400 originally but 600 will be a stretch goal and let us both hope I can meet your fortnightly bonuses.) I have two forces for a show game to get done, so expect me to be painting camels!

    1. I take it you're another volunteer for the sandbagging, budgie-smuggling badger watch? ;-)

      Delete
    2. Noted and scribed, Clint! The 500-600 point range seems to be quite popular this year.

      Looking forward to the camels!

    3. I know nothing of Sand budgies or badger smuggling. On indeed baggy watching. I know not of what you speak.

I can assure you Tamsin I will not be ranking highly enough to make the top half of the board.

As for the camels time will tell how they come out as I have very little experience with this figure particular manufacture or the subject. So it might be a disaster.

Thanks for the email. Cheers Clint

  19. Not sure how I missed this post earlier in the week.

It's good to see so many new faces and I'm really, really pleased that Anne has made it onto the list this year.

    1. Yes, it is nice to have some more X chromosomes and estrogen in the mix! I rely on you two ladies to keep the loutish behaviour of the rest of us in check. Or is it the other way around? ;)

      Delete
    2. Errrmm, not sure that my behaviour last year was any more (or less) refined than that of the boys so we'll just have to wait and see if Anne's presence has any calming effect.

At the very least Anne will be a welcome addition to the team watching for badgers smuggling budgies and sneaking sandbags.

  20. Thanks! Yes, its going to be pretty bloody frenetic! I have a structure on how I do this so I hope it doesn't collapse under the strain.

  21. Hiya Curt and all the challengers.
    Wow. This is a biggie.
I thought long and hard on this and not wishing to scare JB with a 5000 target, I have decided on a respectable 1000.
Whether I will be able to best this or even beat last year score will remain to be seen (unlikely).
Paints at the ready guys n gals..
Enjoy the next 3 months of madness.

    1. Yes, I think James, like a colossus, will stand alone in this Challenge. But, who knows, we've been surprised before.

1000 points? Excellent, noted and logged!

  22. Hey Curt, you can add the fawcett blog link as i will be posting things up there with Dallas and Greg as we go through the event.

  23. My humble apologies Curt, I seem to have taken my eye off the ball and initially missed this post, I see that I need to offer up a par score, so I'll raise last year's and go for 600! Vey excited and one or two ideas are starting to form for the boys rounds. Once again a huge thank you for all your efforts.

    1. No problem at all Michael! 600 is a very nice 'raise' from you target last year, bravo! We all look forward to seeing your efforts here over the next few months!

  24. Best of luck Curt in running the show, I fear you may have your work cut out! Best of luck to all - good to see all the blogs listed... I'll have to check out the ones I am not familiar with...
For now, frantically filing, basing and undercoat spraying! Plus I managed to unearth my Hobbit dwarfs, hiding in the corner of the painting table, which were supposed to be done for last years challenge - hopefully they'll emerge fro their hidy-hole in time for this one!
