I started with the midtone brown pigment but switched to the black as it give better definition. I also got my method from Saxon Dog. I was a bit hesitant to try it at first. Its certainly not the 'silver bullet' for everything. Figures that have a great deal of white on them will still look too muddy imo. It works great with earth tones and reds.
